Christians speak of "being saved", but all too often don't follow the phrase to its logical reply "Saved from what?" How do we answer this question when we share the gospel with others? Far from being a matter of semantics, the issue holds critical importance for believers and non-believers alike. Is it really sufficient to say that we are saved from our sins?

R. C. Sproul uses Scripture to show that the question, in its most important sense, should be phrased, "Saved from whom?" The answer God himself. God, in righteous wrath, stands against us in our sin. But the glory of the gospel is that the one from whom we need to be saved is the very one who saves us. It is when we truly grasp the significance of Christ's redeeming work that we begin to understand the serious demands and joys of repentance. Thoughtful listeners will be strengthened and challenged by this insightful audiobook.

Too often we evangelicals ask the question, "Are you saved?" but we never bother to stop and ask ourselves that question and form an answer. What are we saved from? Most people don't know they need to be saved. If you ask the average person on the street if they are saved, most would wonder at what they need to be saved from. After all, to be saved is saying that we were in danger and needed to be saved from something or someone.

Dr. R.C. Sproul's book seeks to answer the question of what it means to be saved. The basic premise is that we do need to be saved but we specifically need to be saved from God Himself. We often think we need to be saved from our sins and this is true but why must we be saved from our sins? It is because sin violates the Law of God (1 John 3:4). Sin is clear rebellion against a holy God who calls us to obey Him. When we sin, we are telling God that we despise His laws and His rule and we reject Him as God and Lord. This brings the wrath of God (Romans 1:18-32). We deserve the wrath of God because of our sins. But Jesus came to save us from our sins and from the wrath of God. Jesus bore the full blunt of God's wrath (Romans 5:8-9). Jesus died in our place and He was condemned for our transgressions against God (2 Corinthians 5:18-21). In other words, writes Sproul, God gives Himself to save us from Himself (John 1:12-13). Jesus satisfies the wrath of God (Romans 3:22-27).

This is what it means to be saved, to be saved from the wrath of God. Not just saved from sin but saved from the just wrath of God against sin. So again, are you saved? Do you understand the gospel and can you explain just what it means to be saved? This book will help you do just that. It is an excellent read.

GOOD
Definitely makes you recognize the truth about your salvation....R. C. Sproul addresses something that most Christians don't think about....Christ tells us that the only one to fear is the one who can condemn us to an eternity of damnation....but that same God can also save us for eternal bliss in His presence
very good, clears up what we are saved from.
This book is excellent for explaining what exactly we are saved from. We are saved from God, for God and to God. I highly recommend this book.
Great!
All Christians should read this book. It completely explains salvation. We need a this reminder of what we came from.
Pastor Sproul demonstrates what the work of Christ means to us. He writes brilliantly expounding the truths related to our salvation. This material can also be enjoyed by watching his lectures (teaching series) available at the Ligonier website. We can almost hear Pastor Sproul's eloquence when we read this magnific short book. A book to be read and reread many times.
